 Losing weight in the winters can prove to be quite an arduous task owing to the unforgiving temperatures and strenuous laziness. Don’t worry. We’ve got you covered with 3 offbeat, lowkey, quirky, eccentric, weird(?) yet effective ways to shed calories.

1.Shiver :
Yes. Contrary to the title of the blog (We’ll get to that in a bit), here’s a quirky way to lose weight. Right. Yes. Shiver.
Shivering for 10 to 15 minutes burns about as many calories as an hour’s worth of moderate exercise, according to a 2014 study published in the journal, Cell Metabolism. Another fun fact to share the next time winter weather strikes: Shivering is actually just muscle contractions, according to the study’s lead author, so it’s like cranking out an involuntary set of bicep curls with no actual effort.
2. Sip on herbal teas

We generally feel less thirsty during cold days, which results in dehydration without us even realising. Moreover, what we often read as ‘hunger pangs’ are actually signs that the body needs some water, not food. A dehydrated body has a weak metabolic system. Sip on warm water or warm herbal teas to not just soothe and rehydrate your body but also keep you fuller for long. Green tea, black tea, chamomile tea and oolong tea are known to manage your appetite and further prevent you from overeating.

3.Choose soup over salad as a starter.
The winter staple takes up so much room in your stomach that it literally fills you up, so you end up eating fewer calories overall when you eat it at the onset of a meal
